Jimmy Schexnayder Death – Jefferson Parish Firefighter Jimmy Schexnayder has sadly passed away after a long battle with cancer. He was confirmed dead on Sunday, May 28, 2023. He died at M.D. Anderson in Houston leaving behind his loving family, colleagues and loved ones who will dearly miss him heartbroken and devastated. He will be remembered for his well lived life and legacy.

Who was Jimmy Schexnayder?

Jimmy Schexnayder was a district chief with Jefferson Parish Fire Department where he served from a period of 33 years. He was also a part-time recruit instructor with FETA. He was described as “One of a Kind Guy and Friend! Always a Smile and a Pleasure to be around!” He will  greatly missed by all those who had the privileges of meeting him and all who worked with him.

What happened Jimmy Schexnayder?

The Jefferson Parish Fire Department district chief died after a long battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully in M.D. Anderson in Houston. On May 29, his journey back home will take him through several parts of our great state starting at the Louisiana Travel Center in Vinton at 12:30p. He will be escorted ho in a convoy. The public is urged to keep the family of Jimmy in their prayers as they grieve in this sad and difficult period.

The convoy will leave the Louisiana travel center in Vinton, LA at 12:30pm tomorrow, Monday, May 29. The convoy will pass through the following city’s at the estimated times listed below:
· Lake Charles- 1:00pm
· Lafayette- 2:30pm
· Baton Rouge- 3:30pm
· Kenner- 4:30pm
· Station 15 arrival- 4:45pm
The Houston River Fire Department along with Sulphur Fd, Ward Six Fire Protection District No. One, Carlyss Fire Department, ward 7 Fd and Vinton Fd, lined the overpasses along I10 from the State line though Sulphur as a tribute to our fallen Brother. We’ll take it from here, rest well in the arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ, Chief – Houston River Fire Departmen
