Obituary: Long-time educator with Mobile County schools has died – After over 30 years of service to the Mobile County Public School System, family and friends reflect on Jimmy Knight’s life and impact. Family members characterize Knight, 83, as having a servant’s heart and dedicating his life to assisting kids.
According to msn.com, Jimmy’s sister-in-law Gloria Knight remarked, “Education was it for Jim, and he loved it.” “That was his life’s work, and he gave it everything he had.” Throughout his career, he has performed a variety of roles.
Knight began teaching at Trinity Gardens Middle, now known as Chastang Middle, in 1966 after graduating from the University of South Alabama.
He taught at Vigor High for four years before becoming the Administrative Dean of B.C. Rain and Theodore High. He served 16 years as principal at Theodore, which was the longest period of his tenure. He was well-known and well-liked, Gloria said, especially by his students.
