Jim Bowers Death – Jim Bowers, Detention Training Coordinator of Plano Texas Police Department has passed away in the month of August 2022. Plano is a city in north Texas. The Heritage Farmstead Museum is a restored 19th-century farm with original tools and furniture, plus a replica 1895 schoolroom. The Interurban Railway Museum traces the history of the Texas Electric Railway, and has a vintage rail car. Trails wind through a nature preserve in Oak Point Park. Northeast of town is Southfork Ranch, made famous as the setting for the TV series “Dallas.”

Reports states that Jim was born in San Bernardino, California in 1968. He attended Wylie High School in 1987. He schooled at Collin County Community College, Eastfield College, and East Texas State University. Jim obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2006. Jim worked for four years with Country Place Adolescent Treatment Facility as Program Supervisor before he was employed in the City of Plano.

Jim joined the Plano Police Department on September 30, 1996. He worked as a Jailer I and was promoted to Jailer II in 1998. Jim received his instructor certificate in May 1998 and accepted the role of Jail Training Coordinator in 2002. He was promoted to Jail Supervisor in March 2006, and on August 22, 2016, Jim’s title was officially changed to Detention Training Coordinator.

According to his obituary, when Jim was working for the department, he received more than commendations, several Chief’s Unit Awards, a nomination for Meritorious Service Award, and was the 2013 Civilian Supervisor of the Year. Jim was described as an exemplary employee and a true professional who added incredible value to the management of the jail, and as having excellent leadership skills.

Jim was an asset to the Plano Police Department. Northeast Texas Media said in a tribute that Jim’s experience, professionalism, and willingness to help others was invaluable. Circumstances surrounding the death of Jim Bowers was not disclosed to the public at the time of this publication.
