Jill Diana Ellingson Hegstrom was born on June 24, 1971, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, as the beloved daughter of Arlen and Sharon (Olstad) Ellingson. Her educational journey began in Thief River Falls, where she attended school until 1988. Later, she relocated to Rockford, where she completed her studies and proudly graduated. Eager to pursue higher education, Jill enrolled at Anoka Ramsey Junior College before embarking on a remarkable path in the US Army.
As a dedicated Military Police (MP) officer, Jill found herself stationed in Germany, faithfully serving her country. Along the way, she embraced the joys of motherhood, sharing a deep bond with her daughter, Kaitlynn Paige Littrell. Following her honourable discharge from the military, Jill returned to Minneapolis and found employment with several esteemed medical companies, utilizing her skills and expertise.
In 2017, Jill’s life took a new direction when she joined in matrimony with Dale Hegstrom. They established their home in Spicer, where they became proud owners of Little Crow Gunworks. Jill’s passion for horses filled her days, as she actively engaged in equestrian pursuits, all while nurturing a variety of animals on her cherished hobby farm. It was a lifelong dream she delighted in fulfilling, finding fulfilment in her love for animals and the serene country lifestyle.

Jill is survived by her husband, Dale; daughter, Kaitlynn (Tyler) Sale; grandchildren, Evangeline and Kyler Sale; stepchildren, Robert and Megan Hegstrom; mother, Sharon Ellingson; brothers, Jeffrey (Tina) Ellingson and Jared (Tammy) Ellingson; nephews, Kristofer and Asher Ellingson; niece, Tabitha Michels; and many aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters-in-law, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Arlen Ellingson; grandparents, Leo and Irene Ellingson and Olaf and Cora Olstad; and most beloved service dog, Jack.

Interment will be Saturday, July 8 at 1 p.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church Cemetery in Grygla, MN. Lunch will follow the graveside service.
