On Tuesday morning, police announced that a 29-year-old Iowa Falls resident had been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Gilbert, Arizona police said he was arrested on May 29. According to the authorities, Bahr murdered Desiree Folsom in Eldora with a gun. On May 26th, her body was discovered inside a home in the 1400 block of 17th Avenue.

Bahr is Folsom’s ex-boyfriend, according to Eldora Police Chief Nick Hassebrock’s interview with KCCI. Bahr and Folsom are parents to two young kids. A protection order for Folsom against Bahr was granted by a court in Hardin County on May 25. The injunction also served as a warning to police that Bahr may be armed.

“We were aware in the first hour or two because of some court proceedings that happened recently. That’s what led us to believe he was our suspect,” Hassebrock said.

Police in Hamilton said that during phone conversations, the landlord opened fire on a police car three times. The SIU reports that at about 10 p.m., the suspect opened fire on a responding officer, resulting in the officer’s death.

“There’s people that now will have the obligation of raising those babies and explaining where their mom is,” MaeAnna Ubben said, a former classmate of Folsom who assisted in organizing the fundraiser. “It’s unfathomable.”

Jesse Watters obituary and funeral plans will be released at a later date
