Jerry Wilcox Death – Additional information regarding a deadly accident that occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Iowa Park and involved a motorbike was disclosed by authorities from the Texas Department of Public Safety. The collision took place on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at approximately 12:15 p.m., near the junction of Business 287 and North Peterson Road in Iowa Park, according to Sgt. Marc Couch of the DPS.
According to the preliminary report on the crash written by Sgt. Couch, a 2022 GMC Yukon was traveling eastbound on Business 287 when it made a left turn onto North Peterson Road. On Business 287 heading east, a Yamaha motorcycle was seen coming up on the crossroads of North Peterson Road. According to Sergeant Couch, the GMC Yukon made a left turn directly into the path of the motorcyclist after failing to surrender the right of way to the rider. The motorcycle was attempting to come to a halt when they collided with the GMC Yukon.
The biker, named Jerry Don Wilcox, 64, of Wichita Falls, was taken to a local hospital with injuries that rendered him unable to function. He was pronounced dead at 1:27 p.m. after being carried there with incapacitating injuries. At the moment of the collision, the motorcyclist was protecting his head with a helmet, as stated in the official report of the incident. The Department of Public Safety is looking into the collision.
Jerry Wilcox’s obituary and funeral arrangements will be released by the family at a later date.
