Death: Veteran high school teacher dies – “We grieve the loss of CTA Board Member Jerry Eaton, a colleague, and friend. Jerry died in Burlingame on Wednesday. He was 69 years old at the time. We are comforted by the gift of time we were able to spend with him this week, having just finished the CTA Board meeting for April.
According to cta.org, Jerry was a veteran high school teacher in the Travis Unified School District in Solano County and was completing his third term on the CTA Board of Directors. As a veteran union worker and leader and a lifelong Californian, he was a fervent advocate for students and educators.
Jerry’s death is heartbreaking, and the CTA Board, leaders, and staff, as well as the children and educators he represented in District A’s nine counties of San Francisco, Napa, Lake, Solano, Marin, Sonoma, Mendocino, Humboldt, and Del Norte, will feel his loss. We will greatly miss him and express our heartfelt sympathies to his family.”
