Jennifer Andrews Death – Jennifer Andrews was identified by West Yorkshire Police after her murder last year, but a court order prevents anyone from disclosing her identity. Jennifer’s family had already given the press permission to publish her name and image by providing a photo and tributes at the time the injunction was issued. His Honor Judge Tom Bayliss observed at Ibbitson’s sentencing in May that the “horse had already bolted” yet the order was nonetheless issued.
Rawden Ibbitson charged for murder
The victim of “obsessed” Rawden Ibbitson’s violent murder has been identified as Jennifer Andrews. After admitting to killing “vibrant, caring, and compassionate” Jennifer in June of last year, Ibbitson, 32, was sentenced last month to life in prison with a minimum term of 29 years. Since Jennifer’s murder was committed in a domestic setting by her ex-boyfriend Rawden, the order ensured that no one, not even Jennifer’s loved ones, could be held accountable for their efforts to memorialize Jennifer or bring attention to domestic violence.
Ibbitson will be eligible for parole in 29 years; if and when he is released, no mention of Jennifer or public disclosure of his crimes will be permitted. The press filed an appeal to this order earlier this year, but they were denied access to the prosecution’s and defense’s statements on the day of sentence.
Ibbitson was convicted of assaulting her last June and sentenced to prison. In court, it was revealed that he had become “fixated” on her. In January of 2022, Ibbitson disclosed to staff that he had attempted suicide by overdosing. He then referred himself to the psychiatric services. On January 5, he texted Jennifer, “I can’t block out my feelings about you, it’s hard for me not to come over and see you.” She said she’d be Ibbitson’s buddy if he asked, but that she just couldn’t handle “anything else.”
The court was informed that Ibbitson had previously shown suicidal ideation and had assaulted a police officer in January 2022 after having initially called 911 to report mental health difficulties. This led to the establishment of a social order. Jennifer had previously told Ibbitson that she just wanted to be friends, but he persisted in messaging her nevertheless.
According to a family member, Jennifer reported Ibbitson to the police in April of last year after he allegedly assaulted and raped her. Ibbitson was subsequently detained and released on bond. At the time of Jennifer’s murder, it is believed that Ibbitson had already forfeited his bail. On June 6 at midnight, multiple people reported hearing Ibbitson “screaming” in the street, prompting authorities to respond. The woman reportedly asked him, “What have you done to her?” in court.
