Jayce Labron Jonesl Cause Of Death, Obituary Not Yet Available – The neighborhood is mourning the death of a local adolescent who succumbed to cancer.
According to Rev. Arthur Smith, pastor of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ of Silsbee, Jayce Labron Jones, 17, who played football and basketball for Silsbee High School, died May 12 at Hermann Hospital.
According to The Bee, “It was heartbreaking, but he fought hard,” Smith added. “He fought till the very end.” It was a difficult pill to accept because the community had rallied so strongly behind him.” Jones had been battling cancer since July 2021, according to Smith.
Many people expressed their condolences to Jones’ family and community after hearing of his death on social media.
Several colleges expressed interest in Jones, a 6-foot-6 junior tight end, during his summer workouts. The Tigers’ all-district honorable mention also served as a defensive end.
As a sophomore, he was also a member of the varsity basketball team. “Fight for 9,” a fundraiser for Jones, was held on April 30 at Faith Temple C.O.G.I.C.
