Jay Briscoe died on the 17th of January 2023 leaving family members, friends and fans totally devastated. The wrestling star was killed in a car accident in Delaware. Jamin “Jay” Pugh was an American professional wrestler also known by his ring name, Jay Briscoe.
Pugh was more recognized by his ring name than by his real name. Ring of Honor was his current employer, and he and Mark Briscoe are currently in the midst of their thirteenth reign as ROH World Tag Team Champions. He was currently under contract with Ring of Honor. At the moment, he was a member of the ROH World Tag Team Championship-winning team.
Jay Briscoe Professional Career
Jay Briscoe, along with his brother Mark, was an original part of the tag team known as The Briscoe Brothers. This tag team would go on to become one of the most successful tag teams in ROH’s history. Jay Briscoe was a founding member of the professional wrestling tag team known as The Briscoe Brothers. In addition to that, he has participated in a variety of different wrestling promotions, including Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, and a few others (PWG).
At the event known as Delaware Invasion, which took place on January 20, 2001, the Briscoe brothers Jay and Mark made their debuts for Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW). They were called in to job against Trent Acid as part of a three-on-one handicap matchup. After being unsuccessful in their attempts to win titles at Breakaway Brawl and A New Beginning, the brothers were finally able to win the CZW Tag Team Championship on July 14, 2001, when they won the match H8 Club: Dead? by defeating the original H8 Club. This victory allowed them to win the title for the first time in their careers.
On March 24, 2001, Jay and Mark Briscoe debuted in Jersey All Pro Wrestling (JAPW) at March Madness Night 2. Despite their efforts, Insane Dragon and Dixie defeated them. In 2002, Jay Briscoe rejoined JAPW. Jay Briscoe and Insane Dragon defended their JAPW Tag Team Championship at “Unfinished Business” on July 13, 2002. After pinning everyone of Da Hit Squad, they won. The Briscoe Brothers have wrestled Ring of Honor the most. The first ROH show, The Era of Honor Begins, featured Jay wrestling. Despite his attempts, Amazing Red defeated him.
At Supercard of Honor VII on April 5, ROH World Champion Jay Briscoe beat Kevin Steen. On May 4, 2013, Briscoe beat Adam Cole at Border Wars 2013. At Best in the World 2013 on June 22, Jay defended the ROH World Championship against his brother Mark Briscoe. The Briscoes have now successfully defended their ROH World Tag Team Championship nine times thanks to their victory against The Motor City Machine Guns at the ROH 16th Anniversary Show on March 9, 2018. They were defeated by So Cal Uncensored on October 14, 2018, and they lost the title (Kazarian and Scorpio Sky).
