Read Ashley Ann’s statement mourning Jason’s death:
It’s with deep regret to announce the passing of our fellow classmate, Jason Porter. He was an incredible father, diehard Marine, & longtime friend for most of us since childhood. He married my best friend, Monique Porter, who became his high school sweetheart. They raised 3 amazing boys together.
He was a member of the department of the State of California’s Corrections and Rehabilitation. Jason was taken too soon. Many people, including his family, will miss him in a way that can never be replaced. He always referred to himself as an adult babysitter. “We lost a young Marine to a motorcycle accident. Jason Porter joins the league with me the first time I swore in. He was also a CO at New Folsom” – Michael Burkhart

This week, there have been three fires in the Northern California region, which has prompted local officials to urge citizens to get ready for the next fire season. During the course of the week, the Scott, Snell, and Vista fires were responsible for the destruction of dozens of acres and even led to the issuance of several evacuation orders and warnings; however, the flames have since been contained to a large extent.
If you haven’t done so previously, the California Department of Insurance recommends that you start taking fire safety precautions in your house as soon as possible.
