Following a fatal motorbike accident that occurred over the weekend in Wilkes County, funeral preparations have been made for a native and longtime resident of Salisbury who was much liked and respected by many people in the city.
North Carolina motorcycle accident
After responding to a deadly head-on collision near Mountain Valley Road at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, the North Carolina Highway Patrol shut down NC Highway 18 in order to investigate. The collision was caused by a car passing another vehicle unlawfully, which resulted in the crash. According to the Highway Patrol, the offender, who was driving a 2009 MKS, drove beyond a double yellow line into oncoming traffic, where they were involved in a collision with a 2000 Yamaha motorbike along with other motorcyclists who were participating in a pack ride.
James Wendell Yarbrough, 55, of Lexington, was driving the Yamaha when it crashed, and he was ejected from the motorcycle. He was taken to the hospital, but he did not survive his injuries. According to the state troopers, the passenger, identified as Katlin Cassidy Flynn, 32, from Salisbury, was also ejected from the vehicle and died as a result of her injuries at the site.
According to the report, Sarah Ann Stikes, 20, of McGrady, who was driving the Lincoln, did not sustain any injuries in the accident. Nevertheless, she was charged with two charges of misdemeanor death by vehicle and left center lane after the incident. A funeral ceremony for James Yarborough will be conducted at Centre Hill Baptist Church on Saturday, July 22 at 11:00am. The church is located at 3759 NC Highway 8 South in Lexington, North Carolina 27292.
A memorial service for Katlin Cassidy Flynn, 32, will be conducted on July 21 at 7:00 pm at Northgate Church, which is located at 1255 West Ridge Road in Salisbury, North Carolina. Condolences are been sent to the family members of James Wendell Yarbrough and Katlin Cassidy Flynn.
