James Kent Obituary Duxbury, MA Cherished Native has died, family mourns: James “Jim” R. Kent of Duxbury died peacefully on May 9, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family. He was Lisa (Wetzell) Kent’s cherished husband of 36 years and the loving father to Brooke Kent and Tayler Kent. He is the late Douglas and Patricia (Cooney) Kent’s son, leaving behind his siblings Douglas Kent and his wife Toni, Patricia Nicolella, Susan Kent, Karen Gilmore, and Barbara Kent, as well as other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jim attended Ithaca College, where he met his wife Lisa and earned a BA in Business. He began his long career in finance in New York City before moving with Lisa to Boston. He joined Brown Brothers Harriman and was given the option to relocate to Luxembourg to serve as Managing Director of the Luxembourg business. He and the girls traveled to Europe, where he developed a liking for excellent food and wine.
After three and a half years in Luxembourg, they returned to Duxbury. Jim spent his summers kayaking, clamming, and biking, and his winters skiing at their home, Jim’s “happy place” on Attitash Mountain, New Hampshire. He enjoyed the outdoors and served as a trustee of the Duxbury Beach Reservation, which helped to protect the beach.
Jim adored his family and friends, particularly his college housemates, whom he considered his second family. His greatest achievement, pride, and joy were his two daughters, Brooke and Tayler. Jim adored life and made the most of everything it had to offer. He had an amazing laugh and a smile that could brighten a room. He had a unique way with people and loved with all his heart. Everyone he met will miss him deeply.
