James Edward Saccato Obituary, Man Who Died After Clearfield Road Rage Incident Identified; A man who died after a road rage shooting has been identified as 63-year-old James Edward Saccato from West Point, Utah, according to Clearfield City Police.
The incident occurred on the night of Monday, June 3, near Industrial Parkway and SR-193 in Clearfield City. The chain of events began when someone called Layton dispatch to report a hit-and-run involving two vehicles. The 911 caller, who was one of the drivers involved in the road rage incident, stayed on the line with police, providing updates on his location as he pursued the other vehicle.
Police stated that the driver of the car being pursued was attempting to evade the 911 caller. The pursuit ended near 300 North 1200 West when the driver of the fleeing vehicle stopped his car and approached the pursuing vehicle. At this point, a confrontation ensued, leading to the tragic shooting of Saccato.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident and have not released further details about the events leading up to the shooting or the identity of the other driver involved. The Clearfield City Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward to aid in the ongoing investigation.
