Jacob Metcalf Death – Jacob Metcalf, firefighter passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023. He was 22 years old. Metcalf was loving son, brother, boyfriend and crew member to the Valyermo Hotshots. At this moment, there has been no formal announcement made regarding the cause of death, and it is still unknown. Although, there are unconfirmed reports that Metcalf died from medical complication.

Jacob was a dedicated worker who was also compassionate, considerate, and the best person in general to have around no matter the situation. It was his passion and his desire to be a firefighter. He enjoyed doing it. Regardless of the circumstances, he maintained an upbeat demeanor and a positive outlook at all times. He never lost his trademark smile. Jacob went above and above to accomplish all that he set out to do, both within and outside of the firing line.

Valyermo Hotshots

The recently established U.S. Hotshots Association is an organization that has a definite objective. That mission is to support, promote, protect, and preserve all Hotshot Crews and Hotshot Crewmembers – whether they are currently active or have served in the past. The United States Hotshot Association (USHA) was established with the purpose of preserving the rich history of the United States Hotshot program, committing to mentorship, and intended to support of special and dire needs.

In addition, the USHA was formed with the intent to directly influence innovation and advancement across the major quarters of Wildland Fire culture, policy, and operations, including Safety, Leadership, Suppression, and Management. The United States Hotshots Association was initially conceived of by a group of former Superintendents who had a significant hand in shaping the Interagency Hotshot Crew program into what it is today.
