Itesh Ira Jailed For Life For Brutal Knife Attack On Woman: Itesh Ira, 35, a deadly London man who lived on Belmont Avenue in Wembley, was given a life term for stabbing a woman nearly to death. Detectives gathered strong evidence against Ira, a deadly domestic abuser, and Ira was put in jail.
Ira made his appearance at the Old Bailey on Thursday, May 2, when he was found guilty of attempting to murder a woman on September 30, 2022, in Wembley, by repeatedly stabbing her and leaving her for dead. He was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum period of 16 years and 9 months [minus time served].
According to the police, Ira was forced to enter a guilty plea to his horrible acts due to the substantial amount of evidence that the investigating detectives had painstakingly gathered against him. He entered a guilty plea to attempted murder and possession of a sharp or bladed object on Friday, October 28, 2022. However, he later made futile attempts to withdraw his pleas.
Ira prepared himself with a knife and waited for the victim to leave work late at night before committing a senseless and horrific act of violence in the middle of the street, according to Detective Sergeant Mitesh Mulji of North West Command’s Public Protection Unit. Mulji claimed that it was evident that his goal was to murder the victim by the extreme brutality and persistence of his force.
Mulji stated that the reason violence against women and girls continued to be a top priority for the Met Police was because of horrifying incidents like these. She added that the police would continue to work closely with their partners in order to bring violent and dangerous domestic abusers to justice.
“The victim has shown incredible bravery and strength in supporting this prosecution. It goes without saying that the incident has left her severely physically and psychologically damaged, but I hope that she will find some peace in the knowledge that Ira can no longer harm women because of her bravery.
“I must also commend the actions of the brave member of the public who challenged Ira during the incident to stop an ongoing serious violent attack and save the victim’s life. He has deservedly been awarded a Judge’s Commendation,” Mulji stated.
The police said that in the wee hours of Friday, September 30, 2022, they received multiple calls from members of the public in Mount Pleasant, Wembley informing them of a woman who had been stabbed multiple times in the street.
Upon arrival, police and London Ambulance Service colleagues discovered the woman, who had many stab wounds to her face, neck, and body, lying on the street and barely awake.
A bloodstained knife that had broken in half as a result of the severe force employed during the attack was also found close by by the officers.
The brutal attack was captured on CCTV, which showed that Ira repeatedly stamped on the victim’s head while she lay motionless on the floor after the frenzied stabbing. The victim’s screams were heard by a brave witness who came out of his home address and challenged him, prompting Ira to flee the scene. The Met Police said that officers conducted fast-time enquiries that led them to identify Ira as the suspect.
