Hugh Stonehouse Death – Hugh Stonehouse, a resident of Blenheim, Ontario, and a longtime Children’s Service Worker sadly passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at the age of 50. He was announced dead through a social media publication that read “Still shocked at the sad news that Hugh Stonehouse has passed. Such a great personality! His custom-fitted, game-wearing lifelong dream of a mask will be finished and given to his family. RIP my friend.”
Who was Hugh Stonehouse?
On May 30, 1973, Hugh Stonehouse Jr. was born into the loving arms of Hugh Stonehouse Sr. and Linda Stonehouse-Paling. He was a devoted brother to his stepbrother Craig Horak, sister Karen Stonehouse, and brother Jeff Stonehouse. Undoubtedly, Hughie’s most cherished achievements throughout his life were his two stunning daughters, Oliva Pre and Morgan Rose.
Growing up, Hughie participated in a variety of sports and discovered that netball was his passion. His wide group of pals remained close even as young adults, having been buddies since public school days and enjoying road hockey together. Throughout his teens and 20s, he had a busy social life and enjoyed hosting his yearly Halloween party, when a lot of people from Blenheim came to dance the night away.

Over the course of his 15 years as a children’s service worker, Hughie had a profound effect on numerous kids and young people. During Olivia and Isaac’s Blenheim Minor Hockey years, he also served as their coach. A great number of young athletes will remember him for his commitment to children and the positive influence he had on their lives.
Hugh’s sister Karen took to her social media and shared the sad news of her brother’s demise. “It seems news travels fast… already the messages of support have been exceptionally overwhelming but very appreciated. My brother, my first friend, the one who protected me growing up, who brainwashed me into being #2 Habs and GNR fan has passed away.” Karen wrote. “He was the world’s proudest dad and one of Blenheim’s most social guys ever. I’m broken and will post more details as we know. Rest in peace to my older brother Hugh Stonehouse.”
Hugh Stonehouse’s funeral arrangements
Visitation will be on Monday, September 25th from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home. This will be followed by a celebration of life in the upstairs of the Blenheim Legion where we welcome you to share some favorite ‘Stoney Stories’ beginning at 7:00 p.m. Please wear your favorite jersey, band tee, or flannel!
