Honoring the Legacy of Thomas Gibbons: Commemorating a Life of Achievement: Sad to announce the passing of Thomas Michael Gibbons, who was born in Halifax on August 14, 1987. To those who were lucky enough to have known Tommy, also known as Tom, Tommy was always seen as a really kind and generous person. They knew him for his kindness and generosity. Tommy won the admiration of many as a very respected and committed Halifax Regional Police officer. Colleagues would most likely describe Tommy as a kind and giving person, perhaps even a gentle giant.
Tommy played many different sports when he was younger. Football was his greatest athletic accomplishment. He made many treasured moments on the Saint Mary’s Huskies football field after graduating from the QEH Lions football program and going on to college. Tommy has now given his sweetheart Jillian Elaine Forhan and their puppy Brady his whole attention. He also spent a good deal of time with his devoted family and friends.
He is survived by his loving parents, Gerard and Nancy (Beattie) Gibbons; his sister Elizabeth Gibbons of Halifax; his grandmother, Frances Beattie of Berwick; his in-laws, Michael and Elaine (Castel) Forhan; his sister-in-law Bailey Robinson (David, Reed) of Hubley; and his brother-in-law Ben Forhan (Diana) of Calgary. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive him.Tommy left behind a contagious smile that brightened any room and an unflinching dedication to helping friends and neighbors through difficult times.
Considering this, we humbly ask that anyone struggling with mental health issues reach out to someone and have a talk in order to respect Tommy’s memory. The friends and family of him gladly welcome you to attend his Celebration of Life. The event is scheduled for Friday, May 10, 2024, in The Homburg Centre (The Tower), more precisely in Saint Mary’s University’s courtside lounge. The ceremony will start at 2:00 pm and the event will last from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please think about remembering Tommy Michael Gibbons by donating to the Canadian Mental Health Association of Nova Scotia.
