Wiki Biography of Heinz Alfred Kissinger

Henry Alfred Kissinger, an American diplomat and political scientist, was born on May 27, 1923, and is most known for his efforts in molding US foreign policy. He became famous after winning the Nobel Peace Prize for his assistance in ending the Vietnam War.

So, how much money does Henry Kissinger have? It is estimated that he has a net worth of $10 million as of early 2016, derived primarily from his long political career and the dozens of books he has produced.

Henry Kissinger has a net worth of $10 million dollars.

Kissinger was born into a Jewish household in Furth, Germany, to parents Louis and Paula. When Hitler rose to power and the Nazis began to murder more Jews, their entire family flew to New York in 1938.

Kissinger attended George Washington High School after arriving in the United States, where he worked during the day and studied at night. He went to City College of New York to study accounting in college. Kissinger was awarded US citizenship in 1943, and he entered the military a few months later.

During his deployment in Germany, Kissinger decided that instead of being an accountant, he wanted to be a political historian. Kissinger accomplished his aim when he returned to the United States and studied for his Master’s and Doctorate degrees in the Department of Government at Harvard University.

His early career began as a member of the Harvard University faculty, where he established a reputation for opposing foreign policy opinions while increasing his net worth. He left Harvard after 15 years to serve the public when President Richard Nixon appointed him as National Security Advisor, a position he held for six years, and then as Secretary of State from 1973 to 1977.

Kissinger made significant successes in terms of US foreign relations with other countries during his time working for Nixon. He aided in the normalization of relations between the US and China, as well as détente with the Soviet Union, which resulted in the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks, to mention a few.

His most noteworthy contribution, however, was his “Vietnamization Policy,” in which he was able to bring the conflict to an end after years of the US being embroiled in the Vietnam War, in which thousands of soldiers died and vast sums of money were squandered.

He was able to devise a strategy and reach an agreement with Vietnam on a cease-fire. His efforts were rewarded when he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1973.

Even after his tenure as Secretary of State, he continued to serve as a political adviser to subsequent presidents, as well as a consultant to some foreign governments, sometimes through his Kissinger Associates firm. Kissinger also written a number of books, which contributed to his wealth. “The White House Years,” “Years of Upheaval,” and “On China” were among the titles.

Kissinger has two children from his first marriage to Ann Fleischer, whom he married in 1949 and divorced in 1964. In 1974, he married Nancy Maginnes, his second wife.
