What was Heaven Taylor’s cause of death?
Around 11:28 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, Chicago Police responded to reports of a dispute and a stabbing beneath the Van Buren & Wabash CTA Green line stop. Upon arrival, they saw Heaven lying on the ground suffering from two chest stab wounds. After being taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, she was declared deceased. According to CPD, Heaven went downtown with some friends, got into a physical fight with another woman, and before the other woman could flee, she took out a knife and stabbed Heaven.
18-year-old Egypt Otis was arrested on Wednesday, October 4th by a member of the Chicago Police Department in the 0-100 block of N. Kildare Ave. She was placed in custody and was charged with one felony count and first-degree murder. Taylor was enrolled in UCAN Academy South, a South Side alternative school, for the tenth grade. Taylor’s principal described her as having vibrant red hair and a big, bold attitude. Taylor adored coloring and drawing, she added. A devoted family and a 2-year-old boy are left behind by heaven. She was pursuing her schooling, concentrating on her goals, and making plans for her approaching birthday.
When a shooting broke out in November last year, Heaven’s own mother Clayton, and her oldest son were outside a South Side McDonald’s. Clayton’s son Rodney James Strong, 29, was shot in the body, and she sustained a bullet wound to her right forearm. Clayton’s arm still has three screws and a pin from the gunshot. Strong was transferred to Oak Lawn’s Christ Medical Center, where authorities said he had passed away.
