A fatal UTV accident occurred early on Saturday morning (September 9, 2023) in Stanley County, South Dakota, claiming the life of an 18-year-old guy from Fort Pierre and injuring three other males. According to Sheriff Brad Rathbun, three teenagers aged 18, 19, and 20 were traveling across a field in a side-by-side vehicle at 1:43 in the morning when the vehicle rolled over.
The pasture is located around one mile west of Fort Pierre. One of the men was able to dial the emergency number, but he was unable to provide their precise position. According to Rathbun, the first responders found them at about 3:20 in the morning.
According to him, Hayden Monson, 18, who was a passenger in the side by side, was pronounced dead at the site of the accident. Two young adults, one aged 18 and the other aged 19, were transported to the hospital in Pierre by an AMR ambulance.
