Hamilton news- Fire in Hamilton Ontario today – A massive fire is reported in Hamilton, Ontario near Rymal Road and Upper Red Hill Valley Parkway today July 11, 2022. tThe fire incident happened in the construction site near Soho Street, near Rymal Road and the Upper Red Hill Valley Parkway, at 4 p.m. Hamilton Police and the Hamilton Fire Department are currently on scene of a large residential fire in Hamilton Ont.
According to report, Upper Red Hill Valley is currently closed between Rymal and Highland. According to officials, traffic is affected. The resident are expected to avoid the area as crews will be operating on scene for some time. According to Chief David Cunliffe of the Hamilton Fire Department, when firefighters arrived, they discovered a large fire that was raging through many residences that were under construction. Cunliffe stated that a total of 23 apartments that were in various phases of the construction process had been destroyed by the fire.
Initial assessments put the cost of the damage somewhere around 10 million dollars. While speaking at the location of the fire, Cunliffe stated that the flames had destroyed 12 residential homes that were “close to the fire.” However, “the majority of the damage has been caused by windows being smashed by the heat.” According to him, fires were starting to break out on the balconies of occupied homes to the north of the blaze because of the intense heat.
Residents who lived in occupied units could be seen using garden hoses to put out fires that broke out in plants and the grass. A number of vehicles and pieces of construction equipment that were on the site or parked on the street near to it have been damaged or destroyed. Some of these vehicles and pieces of equipment were on the site at the time of the incident.
Cunliffe said that the fire was under control at approximately six o’clock, although firemen were still working to try and control hot spots with water. At 8:30 p.m., he provided an update in which he implied that they would be there well into the night.
