An accident that occurred in Ringgold County on Wednesday night resulted in the deaths of two people and injured one other person. The Iowa State Patrol reports that at approximately 8:45 p.m., a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 driven by David Patrick Love, 54, of Mount Ayr, was traveling southbound on 170th Avenue, a gravel road, approaching 110th Street. At the same time, a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 driven by Donna Kay Allen, 44, of Afton, was traveling northbound in the same location. Both vehicles were involved in a collision.
According to the authorities, both vehicles were moving in a manner that was rather close to the middle of the road and were not yielding one half of the road as they went up a hill. According to the patrol, the drivers were unable to see each other before the collision, which caused them to strike the left front corner of the other driver’s vehicle.
The authorities claim that Allen’s vehicle then rolled rearward until coming to a stop on the side of the road to the east, whilst Love’s truck went off the road. According to the patrol, both Allen and Love were found to be deceased at the scene of the accident. In addition, Shawn Allen, who was a passenger in Allen’s vehicle and is 46 years old, was airlifted to Mercy Hospital by the Mercy Helicopter for treatment of his injuries.
