Kings Island opens to the public today, Saturday, April 15, 2023. For the past few months, park officials have been introducing new rides and other things to do all over the park. One of these is Adventure Port, a new themed area with two new family rides. It is between Coney Mall and Action Zone. Also new is Grain & Grill, a fast-casual restaurant on International Street with meals like Moroccan chicken, glazed pork shoulder, shrimp skewers, and seasonal sides that are inspired by the Mediterranean.
Joseph Perez, who used to work at the Ameristar Casino and Hotel in Kansas City, Mo., will be in charge of the new restaurant and all of the park’s food and drinks. The park had a big year in 2022. On April 29, it celebrated its 50th anniversary, and on September 10, at the 2022 Golden Ticket Awards in San Antonio, Texas, the international trade magazine “Amusement Today” named it Park of the Year.
Not wanting to be overshadowed by a big anniversary, the park is adding new and exciting programs and places to visit this year to keep people interested. Here are some of the new things coming in 2023. The biggest change that visitors will see this year is at Adventure Port. It is all around the area where the most popular ride, Adventure Express, is. This famous family-friendly roller coaster opened in 1991. It takes riders on a treasure-hunting train ride through a mine in search of a forbidden temple. The first drop is 63 feet high, and the ride can go as fast as 35 miles per hour. For 2023, the waiting line will be moved, and there will be more theming.
