One person has tragically lost their life in a house fire that occurred on the 200 block of Fayette Street in Westmont during the early hours of Wednesday morning. The deceased individual, who remains unidentified at this time, was found on the first floor of the residence. Additionally, five other occupants of the house were taken to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center due to injuries whose specifics are currently unknown.
The fire incident prompted a swift response from fire crews hailing from Cambria and Somerset counties, who arrived at the scene around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The investigation into the cause of the fire is being carried out jointly by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal and the West Hills Fire Department.
Cambria County Coroner, Jeff Lees, has scheduled an autopsy for around 10 a.m. to further determine the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate death. More comprehensive details will be released by him at a later time as the investigation progresses.
