Christy Miller Car Accident – The eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 in Gonzales County were closed for more than 11 hours following a horrific accident was reported on Wednesday, July 6. According to Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Rueben San Miguel, the collision occurred at 11:22 a.m. Wednesday in the city of Waelder and involved three truck-tractors with semi-trailers and three passenger automobiles. Wade Stagle, 57, of Remer, Minnesota, and Christy Miller, 46, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, were driving a 2021 Volvo tractor-trailer eastbound on I-10 in the right lane while pulling a semi-trailer.
According to San Miguel, Stagle failed to slow down at a construction zone and collided with a 2020 BMW driven by Mona Nesbitt, 62, of Lubbock, along with two minor passengers, before continuing to collide with multiple additional vehicles. At 11:50 a.m., Gonzales County Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Jesse Almaraz pronounced the deaths of four people (Stagel, Miller, Nesbitt, and an 11-year-old daughter whose identity was withheld) at the scene.
A youngster in the BMW was taken to a hospital in San Antonio in critical condition, according to San Miguel. Due to the accident’s wreckage and debris, the interstate was closed.

According to the Jefferson County Coroner, 29-year-old Antonio Laden Haynes lost control of his convertible Cheverlot Camaro around 7:30 p.m. while traveling in the 3700 block of Decatur Hwy. Multiple unrestrained passengers were thrown when the truck flipped over. The injured passengers were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Their injuries have not been documented in detail. Haynes passed away at the scene.
