Gerry Monroe Death – Houston community activist Gerry Monroe, a resident of Houston, Texas has passed away suddenly. Gerry Monroe also known as “The 5 Star General” was announced dead on Sunday, the 30th of April 2023. He was an unrelenting activist in the Houston Independent School District. Gerry Monroe said his assignment was the youth, and that’s exactly what and who he fought for until he took his last breath.

Ferrel Bonner for Fort Bend County wrote on Facebook: “I was informed this morning about the passing of “5 Star General” Gerry Monroe (The OG). He was a staunch advocate for our children’s education and our struggling communities. My sympathies, condolences, and prayer to his family and friends.”

Gerry Monroe’s cause of death

There was no cause of death reported for Gerry Monroe at the time of this publication. Thoughts and prayers are with his family and the Houston community during this difficult time. Monroe was proud of his reputation as a troublemaker in the neighbourhood, and he didn’t care how he had to hold people responsible when it came to the kids.

Who was Gerry Monroe?

Gerry Monroe was born in Houston, Texas. Monroe graduated from Jack Yates Sr. High School in 1986. He went to Central Texas College and got an associate degree in 2020. Monroe has worked as a political consultant and a supporter of better education. He has run his own business and been in charge of The United Urban Alumni Alliance.

Monroe was almost done with school, which was one of his goals. Monroe spoke up for a lot of students, teachers, managers, and seniors. He helped Dr Grenita Lathan keep her job in HISD and worked with the Principal at Yates to get her back. Monroe was a great salesman, an honest person, and a star in his community.

He was never scared and loved taking pictures. Monroe could make you cringe, pray, and laugh all in one section. His group paid for a dinner for seniors in Sunnyside for a charity run by Mayor Sandra Massie Hines. He set up an event for the whole town. Monroe did what he could to keep young guys from joining gangs. He was as clever as a fox.

Gerry Monroe obituary and funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by the family.
