Authorities say a man was shot and then struck a parked pickup truck in a residential area of Azusa on Monday, killing him. Around 10 a.m., a collision occurred in the 17700 block of Newburgh Street. The vehicle that was parked on the roadway and was struck by a car going at least 50 mph. The truck was then forced onto another parked car as a result of the incident.
The driver, who was driving alone and was only identified as a Hispanic male between the ages of 18 and 25, was discovered to have a gunshot wound when detectives arrived at the crash scene, according to Lt. Mike Gomez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. After being admitted to the hospital, he passed away.
A second crime scene, said to Gomez, was located about a quarter of a mile distant near the intersection of Donna Beth Avenue and Newburgh Street. The victim was allegedly shot there first, according to investigators. Steven Jimenez, whose home security camera saw the collision, claimed that family members informed him of the situation.
Notified of any more injuries. Investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
