Gary Indiana Shooting – According to authorities, on early Tuesday morning, a mass shooting took place at a Fourth of July holiday block party in Gary, Indiana. According to reports, three dead and seven more injured were recorded. Early evidence, according to police, suggested that a holiday block party “may have been going on when the gunfire erupted.”
Authorities say three people were killed: a 20-year-old from Olympia Fields, Illinois; a 20-year-old from Merrillville, Indiana; and a 27-year-old from Lafayette, Indiana. The victims were identified as Marquise Hall, 26, Laurence Mangum, 25, and Ashanti Brown, 20 by the Lake County Coroner’s office. Requests seeking confirmation on Hall’s age did not immediately receive a response from the authorities.
According to the Gary police department, they were alerted at about 12:45 a.m. to the 1900 block of Missouri Street for a report of “several people with a gunshot wound.” Three people were found unresponsive and another seven with gunshot wounds at the arrival of the officers at the scene.
According to authorities, the remaining victims were driven by themselves and an ambulance to local hospitals.
