Death: Japanese Manga Artist Dies At 88 – Fujiko A. Fujio, a well-known manga artist in Japan, has died. “Ninja Hattori-Kun” and “Kaibutsu-Kun,” or the monster kid, were two of his most popular series. On Thursday morning, he was reportedly discovered dead at his residence in Kawasaki City, near Tokyo. He was 88 years old when he died.

In 1934, the cartoonist was born in Toyama Prefecture. Abiko Motoo was his true name. He paired up with Fujimoto Hiroshi, a former elementary school classmate, to debut as manga artist Fujiko Fujio.

According to 3.nhk.or.jp, In 1954, the two went to Tokyo and collaborated on “Obake no Q-Taro,” or “Little Ghost Q-Taro,” as well as a number of other popular manga and animation series.

Abiko continued to create manga under the name Fujiko A. Fujio after her association with Fujimoto ended in 1987. He wrote works illustrating the evil side of society, such as “Warau Salesman,” or the laughing salesman, in addition to humorous manga series with colorful characters.
