FRESNO COUNTY, Calif.~ After officials believe another car drove past a stop sign in Fresno County on Monday evening, causing the accident that resulted in the death of a mother and the injury of two children, there was also a third person who was injured in the incident. The collision took at around 4:30 in the afternoon in the neighborhood of Minnewawa and International avenues.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a driver operating a Mercedes allegedly ran a stop sign while traveling at an excessive rate of speed and collided with a Honda while the two vehicles were in the intersection. According to the authorities, the woman who was driving the Honda was killed, and two of her children were injured while they were in the vehicle.
Both youngsters, ages 8 and 10, were transferred to a nearby hospital to receive medical attention for their wounds. The driver who ran the stop sign did not sustain any major injuries in the collision, according to the investigators who looked into the matter.
As road crews work to clear the highway, the northbound lanes of Willow Avenue have been closed just south of International Avenue. This closure is in effect until further notice. There is presently no time estimate available for when the street will once again become accessible to the public. According to the authorities, neither alcohol nor illicit substances are suspected to have played a role in the collision.
