81-year-old Frederick Allen Baggs, from Palatka, died away peacefully in the early morning hours of February 28, 2022, at Haven Hospice Robert Care Center in Palatka surrounded by his family. Freddy grew up in Bostwick Baptist Church and sang in the choir. He attended Bostwick and Putnam County Schools.
Freddy was the ninth of eleven children born to Benn Hill and Leila Richardson Baggs. After moving from Jacksonville, where his father worked as a section foreman for the Atlantic Coastline Railroad, Freddy was born in Bostwick, Florida.
It was Freddy’s passion for fishing and hunting that led to a successful commercial fishing career.
Bill Baggs and Sandra B. Kirkland were also predeceased by Fred’s loving wife Margaret, an infant son and his parents.
Bob Baggs and Rachel Baggs of Palatka survive him as do his late wife Margaret’s children, Barbara DeAngeles, Doug Guthrie, and Gary Brown of Bostwick; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Master’s Funeral Home in Palatka will be hosting a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Pastor Leon Edenfield will officiate at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 7th at Masters Funeral Home. Fred will be buried near Margaret in Bostwick Cemetery.
