The Orleans County Sheriff’s Department dispatchers notified the Village of Medina Fire Department of a motor vehicle collision with possible entrapment near the intersection of Maple Ridge and Bates Roads at 14:49 hours today. The two-car crash landed one vehicle in the road and the other in the ditch, with the driver trapped inside.
Crews attended early and used two hydraulic tools to stabilize the vehicle, administer patient care, and extricate the driver, in 27 minutes. The injured driver was put into Medina Ambulance 61 and transported to the Medina Business Park landing zone set up by the Ridgeway Fire Department.
The patient was flown to ECMC in Buffalo by Mercy Flight. The other driver was evaluated on the site by Medina Ambulance 60 and refused to be taken to the hospital.
