Felipe Colares Death – Brazilian mixed martial artists mourn the death of Felipe Colares after he was involved in bus accident. The crash that resulted in his death happened on Monday morning, April 1st, 2023, while Colares was returning home from his workout in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His coach, Rodrigo Babi confirmed that the mixed martial arts fighter was sent to Hospital Rocha Faria in Campo Grande, but he passed away before they could reach the hospital.
Who was Felipe Colares?
Bantamweight MMA fighter out of Brazil, Luis Felipe Dias Colares was born March 31, 1994. His professional career began in 2013, and he has since fought primarily in the UFC. On May 1, 2023, at the age of 29, he was killed in a car accident. Colares learned judo at the age of seven, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Taekwondo, and Muay Thai at the age of fifteen, and grew up in Macapa, Amapa. Colares signed with UFC in January 2019 after compiling an undefeated MMA record of 8-0 in the Brazilian regional MMA circuit, which included a win for the featherweight title at the Jungle Fight.
Colares competed in his first UFC bout on February 2, 2019, at UFC Fight Night: Assunço vs. Moraes 2, where he lost a lightweight bout to Geraldo de Freitas. He was defeated by a score of judges’ unanimous verdict. On November 7, 2020, at UFC Fight Night 182, Colares and Gustavo Lopez were slated to square off.

He was supposed to fight Gustavo Lopez in a bantamweight battle, but he had to back out due to a positive COVID-19 test. On May 1, 2021, at UFC on ESPN 23, Colares was slated to battle Journey Newson. On 1 May 2021, UFC on ESPN 23 was supposed to feature a featherweight combat between Newson and his original opponent, Luke Sanders. However, Newson pulled out of the fight, and Sanders took his place. Despite being knocked down several times in the opening round, Colares was declared the winner by a score of 3-0.
On October 9, 2021, at UFC Fight Night 194, Colares fought Chris Gutiérrez.[24] He was defeated by a split decision. At UFC Fight Night 206, which took place on May 21, 2022, Colares met Chase Hooper.[26] In the third round, he suffered a technical knockout loss. Colares was officially removed from the UFC on June 9, 2022.
