At approximately 3:15 in the morning on August 3, 2022, officers from the Fayetteville Police Department were summoned to the Travelodge that was located at 2076 Cedar Creek Road in response to a report of a shooting that had taken place there. In the parking lot of the motel, law enforcement officers discovered two victims who had been shot. On the site, medical personnel determined that one of the victims had passed away. The second victim was transferred to a local hospital with injuries that were considered to be life-threatening.
Their identities are not being revealed at this time to protect the privacy of their next of kin. Members of the Homicide Unit of the Fayetteville Police Department are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. At approximately 3:48 p.m. on July 23, 2022, officers from the Fayetteville Police Department were dispatched to the 5300 block of Ramsey Street in response to a report of a business that had been robbed. The preliminary inquiry indicated that a clerk at the business was assisting another customer when a black male customer in his 20s jumped in line behind the customer that the clerk was assisting.
After the customer had left the establishment, the suspect went up to the counter, put a bag on it, and demanded money. The employee cooperated with the demand. The guy drove away from the scene in a red Chevrolet Cruze while carrying the cash that had been taken from the register. Officers described the vehicle driven by the suspect and were able to find it in a short amount of time. The defendant attempted to flee on foot, but cops were able to catch up with him and take him to jail.
The individual wanted in connection with the robbery of the business has been apprehended and charged by investigators with the Aggravated Assault Unit of the Fayetteville Police Department. Josiah Jennings, a black male and a male 22 years old, was arrested in the 7000 block of Bucktail Road and charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Common Law Robbery, Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, and Possession of Stolen Goods. Jennings was a resident of the 7000 block of Bucktail Road.
The day before the heist, a report of a car being stolen was filed at the Walmart located at 1550 Skibo Road. The suspect was driving that vehicle. The vehicle was located and its registered owner was contacted once it was returned. On the same day, Jennings is also responsible for another heist that took place in the county.
