The news of Fr. Gene Schnipke’s death, which came from the Missionaries of the Precious Blood-Cincinnati Province, was brought to the public’s attention by Tom Battocletti.
In the infirmary of St. Charles Center in Carthagena (Ohio), the 68-year-old priest, Fr. Gene Schnipke, C.PP.S., was discovered unconscious today in his room. He was sent to the Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater, Ohio, where he was declared dead a short time later.
George Stegeman a user said, “Gene was a joy to be around at Brunnerdale and beyond. His locker was just one away from mine all the B-dale. Our class had our 50th anniversary reunion this past summer and he celebrated Mass for us. Rest in peace dear freind. We’ll miss you.”
Fr. Schnipke was recuperating at St. Charles after undergoing recent surgery. Earlier in the morning, he had met guests and engaged with members of the staff.
Funeral arrangements are still being finalized. His family prays for his repose, and that the peace of Christ be upon them.
