Farmington Dragway Death – Lucas McKinney, 22, drag racer killed in crash
A driver lost control between 3 and 3:30 p.m. Saturday while slowing down following a timed trial. The motorist was involved in a car accident and died as a result of his injuries.
According to the Mocksville Fire Department, a drag racer died after a crash during a timed trial at the Farmington Dragway.
Red Whitmore, director of the DER Racing Series at Bristol Dragway, stated Johnson City Press, “Lucas is going to be missed.” “He comes from a good racing family, and he’s been racing with us since I started DER 14 years ago.” His slot-car family also has our condolences. He was competitive and enjoyed racing.”
According to myfox8.com, Lucas McKinney, 22, of Elizabethton, was the driver, according to the Johnson City Press. In 2018, he won the High School Challenge at Bristol Dragway, and in 2020, he advanced to the DER Series Pro class race final.
