A motorcyclist was killed in a collision that occurred on Saturday evening in Lee’s Summit. A 22-year-old woman from Blue Springs has been charged with a felony for her alleged involvement in the incident. On Monday, the Jackson County Prosecutor, Jean Peters Baker, stated that charges of second-degree involuntary manslaughter would be filed against Carly A. Rudolph, who is 22 years old.
At around six o’clock in the evening on June 24, 2023, emergency medical services and accident investigators responded to a collision at the junction of NE Todd George Pkwy. and NE Leinweb Road that involved a motorbike and a Toyota SUV. Christopher M. Silvers, who was driving the motorcycle at the time of the accident and is 39 years old, sustained injuries that are considered to be life-threatening. After some time, he passed away at the hospital.
Due to the collision, Rudolph required treatment for some minor injuries. Before getting into her vehicle, Rudolph is said to have revealed to an officer that she had been drinking wine and smoking from a THX cartridge, which the office of the prosecutor claims she did before getting behind the wheel. A witness is said to have told the police that Rudolph’s vehicle did not come to a complete stop when it was required to do so at a stop sign before it entered an intersection and collided with Silvers’ motorcycle.
The charging paperwork that the prosecutor’s office has received include a number of individuals who were present during the incident. The inquiry into this matter is still ongoing. Rudolph is deemed innocent unless and until the defendant is proved guilty or pleads guilty, regardless of whether or not the charges against him are shown to be true.
If you are found guilty of the accusations, you might face anything from one to four years in jail as a sentence.
