In an accident on Monday in Big Cottonwood Canyon, a woman died and four other people were hurt very badly. Unified Police Sgt. Melody Cutler said that the crash happened in the Storm Mountain area on state Route 190 when a dump truck tried to turn into a lane for runaway trucks and hit a car.
The crash killed the car’s owner, Jessica Keetch Minnesota, 36, of West Jordan. Minnesota’s 4-year-old son, 61-year-old mother, and 2-year-old daughter were all taken to hospitals in critical condition. Cutler said that the driver of the dump truck was also taken to the hospital and was in very bad shape.
Minnesota worked as a speech therapist at the Craig H. Neilsen Rehabilitation Hospital of the University of Utah Health. Cutler said that the driver of the dump truck told the cops that his brakes had broken. Transportation officials told people Monday to stay away from the area and expect delays because the road was closed in both ways.
