A resource officer at Emerald High School was informed on Friday morning by Greenwood School District 50 that a student at the school may have been distributing an illicit substance of some kind to other students on campus. The nature of the substance was not revealed in the statement.
A number of pupils, as well as the student who is suspected of distributing the material, were questioned by school administration and the resource officer regarding the situation. It was found by the authorities that the student was in possession of an illegal substance, and it was apparently admitted by the student that they had given the substance to four other students, 7News reported.
A parent took one of the students to the hospital so that they could get checked out, and emergency medical services took the other four youngsters to the hospital for evaluation as a precaution. The school system issued a statement that read, “The student who was in possession of the illegal substance will be charged by law enforcement and disciplined in accordance with the school board’s policy.”
