Elijah Watley was a longtime resident of Memphis, Tennessee where he lived until the time of this death. He was a native of Cordova, Tennessee where he was born and raised. He was a Biomedical Engineering Student at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He served as the secretary for both the National Society of Black Engineers and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc Kappa Chi Chapter. He attended Memphis-Shelby County Schools – MSCS.
He had a leadership vision to advance human health through biomedical appliances in medical devices and prosthetics. Watley devoted his time to gaining industry and research experience through internships and coops. He was very keen on acquiring more knowledge to help design and create biotechnology that will enhance the health of others. He was big on Discipline and having self-control through structure and routine. Mnay knew him to be very empathic and respectful to others.
