Elijah Lewis Death – Elijah Lewis, an entrepreneur and community organizer who was hailed as a pillar in the Black community, passed away. He died as a result of his injuries at the Harborview Medical Center. Elijah had a strong affinity for the Central District as well as the South End of Seattle. He was acutely aware of the fact that the communities in which he had spent his childhood no longer existed, and that as a result of the investment of millions of dollars in new structures, the residents who had lived in the region for decades were being evicted.

He was a member of a number of different community organizations and social movements. At the age of 18, while he was a senior at Rainier Beach High School, Lewis delivered a speech in front of thousands of people at Seattle’s student-led “March For Our Lives” to urge tougher gun regulations. On the podium, he exhorted all of the other people who were born in the 1990s to vote for the generation that will come after them.
He was one of the last “90s babies,” having been born in 1999. In the year 2020, he took part in the demonstrations that were held in Seattle in response to the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. According to Dunham’s recollection, he was able to engage the audience by speaking to at least 500 individuals about his experience as a young Black boy.
