UPDATE: Edgewater Mall Shooting Today – According to accounts, the Edgewater Mall was forced to be evacuated on Saturday afternoon after a report of shots being fired was made to the police. Deputies from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and the Biloxi Police Department arrived to the scene. According to images obtained from WXXV, there was a substantial police presence outside of the mall.
Bags of food can be seen sitting on tables in several of the photos from the food court, as well as goods that have been tossed to the ground and chairs that have been overturned. The police have launched an investigation and are continuing to process the scene of the incident. According to the report, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department and the Biloxi Police Department have not been able to confirm whether or not there were any victims or whether or not shots were fired.
The workers at the shopping center came to the conclusion that it would be best to close the mall for the evening. According to Terry Powell, the general manager of Edgewater Mall, the shopping center will stay closed until Sunday at noon. ORIGINAL STORY: Edgewater Mall Shooting Today – Biloxi Police Department and Harrison County Sheriff’s Department are responding to a shooting report in Biloxi, Mississippi on Saturday, April 15th, 2023. The Biloxi Police Department says that officers were sent to Edgewater Mall located at 2600 Beach Blvd, Biloxi, MS 39531, United States following reports of an active shooter and shooting at the shopping mall. Sources confirmed that the mall has been evacuated.
The incident happened right before 4:00 p.m. The mall won’t reopen on Saturday due to the inquiry and the fact that it would close at 7 p.m. otherwise. Nobody has confirmed that guns were fired as of yet, but police are investigating what shoppers heard to cause them to flee for safety. While authorities investigate what happened, the public is asked to avoid the area.
