Dylan Tarbi Obituary, Sarver PA; Boy killed in Butler County bicycle accident identified: A tragic accident claimed the life of 13-year-old Dylan Tarbi of Buffalo Township on Friday evening. Dylan was bicycling home from a local candy store with a friend when he was struck by a pickup truck. He died shortly before 8:30 p.m. after being flown to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, as confirmed by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office.
Township police Chief Tim Derringer reported that the other boy, also 13 and from Buffalo Township, was riding a separate bike and was also struck by the pickup. He sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital by his family. The crash occurred just before 7 p.m. near 218 Cole Road, with both the bicycles and the pickup traveling west. Initial investigations suggest that sun glare might have obscured the driver’s view, preventing them from seeing the boys on their bicycles.
“The vehicle stayed on the scene,” Chief Derringer said. “The driver stopped immediately and is fully cooperating.” At this time, speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
“It just think it’s a tragic accident,” Derringer remarked, emphasizing the sorrow felt by the community. While there were no direct witnesses to the incident, police are seeking footage from residential cameras and dashboard cameras in the area to aid their investigation. The name of the other boy involved in the crash has not been released. The community is deeply saddened by the loss of Dylan Tarbi, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
