UPDATE: Drive-by shooting London Today – In response to a drive-by shooting outside a church in London that left a seven-year-old girl with potentially fatal injuries, a 22-year-old male has been detained on suspicion of attempted murder. It is the first arrest related to the shooting that occurred on Saturday outside St. Aloysius church close to Euston station. At a memorial event for a woman and her mother, six people—four women and two children—were hurt in the assault.
Suspect arrest in connection to shooting
After a car was stopped in Cricklewood Lane in Barnet, north London, a 22-year-old male was taken into custody on Sunday. He has been detained and will be questioned. At around 1:30 pm on Saturday, the police reported that a black Toyota C-HR fired shotgun pellets before driving off. Anyone who may have seen the automobile in the area on Saturday was urged by Scotland Yard to contact them with any information.
The funeral service for Fresia Calderon, 50, and her daughter Sara Sanchez, 20, was held at the church in Camden’s Somers Town neighborhood. By the end of 2022, they had both passed away just a few weeks apart. In November, Calderon returned from Colombia and passed away at Heathrow from a blood clot. Three weeks later, her daughter passed away from severe leukemia. According to reports, the incident occurred on Saturday after mourners had left the cathedral to release white doves.
Child in critical condition
The 7-year-old child is in a critical but stable condition after being rushed to the hospital following the incident. After the incident, a 48-year-old lady suffered possibly life-altering injuries, and three other women, ages 21, 41, and 54, were transported to the hospital where it was determined that their conditions were not life-threatening. A 12-year-old girl who suffered a leg injury is anticipated to recover completely. According to witnesses, the shootings caused mourners to flee and scream, with many taking refuge inside the church. Images shared on social media revealed the chaos that followed the start of the shooting.
