Donald Poirier Death – President of Cocagne Variety LTD Donald Poirier of Shediac, New Brunswick has sadly passed away. He died on Monday 27th March 2023 at the age of 62 surrounded by his wonderful family. He was pronounced dead at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton. The circumstances surrounding the exact cause of Donald Poirier’s death has not been revealed by the family at the time this publication was made.
Who was Donald Poirier?
He was the son of Yvon Poirier, and Dora (Bourque) Poirier, who also passed away. He was born in Cocagne. He was the President of Cocagne Variety Limited, a grocery shop that was owned by his family and he was a well-known member of the community. Donald was an enthusiastic individual who also possessed a wonderful sense of humor. He was joyful and smiling all the time, and he had a laugh that was contagious. He enjoyed making other people laugh.
Because he could make children laugh and give them a boost to their sense of self-confidence, children adored him. He had a tremendous sense of curiosity, and as a result, he enjoyed traveling both domestically and internationally. He was an enthusiastic sport hunter who frequently pursued moose and deer, and he was a huge fan of the hockey team the Montreal Canadiens. A couple of his other favorite activities included going boating and camping.
Because of him, the lives of his families and friends were filled with an unbelievable amount of joy. Amazing, enchanting, and humorous are three words that come to mind while attempting to describe him. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 40 years, Janice. He was the proud father of his son, Benoit, and daughter, Monica. Donald is also survived by two sisters: Lilianne Poirier of Moncton, and Dianne (Réginald) Goguen of Cocagne; his in-laws: Ola Collette (Marie), Andrea (Noë) Pellerin, Yvon (Juliet) Collette, and Maurice Collette (Nicole); as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitations will be held at Passage Funeral Home (3754 Route 134, Shediac Bridge) on Tuesday, April 4th, 2023 from 2:00pm until time of service. Funeral service will take place in the chapel at 4:00pm.
