Officer Domingo Tavarez-Rodriguez and his wife, Yenitza Arroyo Torres, were located at their home on Vandenberg Drive just after 6 p.m. by police supervisors, according to Braden. They were found dead with gunshot injuries in their house off of River Road on Friday evening. The officer had failed to report to work, and the supervisors went to the couple’s home to investigate. The comments were made by the chief during a quick press conference that took place late at night in the Central District headquarters of the department.
“When he failed to report, and the supervisors were unable to contact him by phone, that’s what prompted them to go by and check on him at his residence. When he failed to report, the supervisors went by and checked on him at his residence,” Braden said.
He stated that both individuals were struck by gunfire during the incident. According to the chief, the investigation will be handled by the State Bureau of Investigation since they have been instructed to do so. According to Braden, Rodriguez had been in the military for a significant amount of time and had been a member of the Fayetteville Police Department since 2021. According to the documents of his voter registration, he is 53 years old.
