Doc Lachicotte Cause Of Death, Obituary Unavailable Yet – Arthur Herbert ‘Doc’ Lachicotte Jr., a member of the Myrtle Beach Golf Hall of Fame who had a significant impact on the development of Georgetown County’s northern section and the Waccamaw Neck, has passed away.
According to myrtlebeachonline.com, Lachicotte died at his home in Pawleys Island on Sunday at the age of 95, according to John Springs, his cousin, and president of Ponderosa Inc., a varied development business in which Lachicotte was a founder and major shareholder.
“We have lost a legend in South Carolina with the passing of Doc Lachicotte – a guy whose life embodied the very fabric of the state, its politics, and its evolution in so many parts of our culture,” said John Napier, a Pawleys Island resident, and former judge.
“Despite his diminutive stature and constant smile, he was a giant in the construction of the Grand Strand and in everything he touched.” Lachicotte’s vision and efforts are largely responsible for the current appearance of Pawleys Island and areas of Murrells Inlet.
