Dick “Rackets” Rakovan Cause Of Death, Obituary Not Yet Available – Dick “Rackets” Rakovan, a 20-year veteran of the Radio Advertising Bureau and former Chicago radio executive, has died. He was Senior Vice President, Membership, when he joined the RAB in 1995.
According to radioink.com, Rakovan began his career in radio as a salesman for Buffalo’s WKBW-AM. He rose through the ranks of Capital Cities to Sales and General Manager roles at stations in New York, Detroit, and Providence, Rhode Island.
Rakovan received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Illinois Broadcasters Association in 2016. “No one can ever accuse Rackets of not having been there-done that,” Dennis Lyle, President/CEO of the Association, said at the time. His impact to the radio industry in general, and specifically the Illinois radio sector, is outstanding.”
