Derek Narby Missing – After a boating accident occurred last night in Manasquan Inlet, the Coast Guard and fire departments from Point Beach, Point Boro, Brick, Manasquan, and other nearby communities have intensified their search for a missing man. The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Derek Narby from Brick, New Jersey. According to reports, Derek and his family were coming back into the inlet when their boat was hit by a wave and crashed into the jetty as it rolled.

Two persons were seen floating in the inlet alongside some coolers and life jackets, according to a witness. According to the testimony of one witness, the two victims who came over the jetty were only moments away from passing out and drowning. The rescued victims were frail and unable to communicate in any meaningful way.

Towels were carried to the victims by onlookers as one dad gasped out to everyone that his son, Derek, was still in the water. Last night, a total of two victims were pulled from the water, and the hunt for the third victim continues. After initially being sent out, divers were eventually called back to shore because the waves were crashing at a height of ten feet. The search for the victim continued all night long, but the Coast Guard and the fire departments were unsuccessful in their efforts.

The only thing that was brought to shore was a life preserver, therefore the rumors that he had been saved were not true. At this time, a C-130 Hercules aircraft, a helicopter from the Coast Guard, and members of the fire department from Manasquan are searching for the missing man. At this point, it is widely believed that the victim has passed away.

This is a developing story. We will update you as we get additional information.
